Coach house in West Cornwall

Situated in the stunning coastal village of Porthcurno, home to the Minack opan-air theatre and location of the first transatlantic telecommunication cables connecting Britain to the rest of the world, this coach house style annex has successfully complimented Rockridge guesthouse.

Formerly a domestic garage, the works involved extending upwards with the addition of a first floor comprising bedrooms and bathroom facilities. The hipped dormer roof helps the building to remain subservient to the host dwelling while also featuring matching design features, and integrating the scheme into the Conservation Area.

“Ben formed a design that provided the space we wanted while remaining in keeping with original house and surroundings. He handled negotiation with the council planners, and once approved, produced a set of Building Regulations drawings that we were able to follow in the construction. The end result is a real success”
